I’ve never had to work so hard to see a tree, but the 14 mile/22km round trip hike takes you through the scenic area and I enjoyed the day. Started at 5:30am, back at 1:30pm with only limited breaks.

It’s amazing to finally seeing the tree after a 4 hours trekking and mountain climbing. It’s been a beautiful experience.

Monster trail (round trip is about 10 hours including rain, waterfalls, humidity from hell) to get to the Jomon Sugi (oldest tree on planet). Watching it is worth every effort.
