上世纪20至40年代，主楼原系英籍犹太富商埃黎·西拉斯·嘉道理的私邸，嘉道理公馆因其建材使用了大量从意大利进口的大理石，故以“大理石大厦”著称中外。这一欧式皇宫式样的大楼，仿巴洛克风格，内部装饰极尽奢华。如今，整幢建筑保存完好，房屋格局基本保持原样。1953年儿童节前夕，在宋庆龄的建议下，大理石大厦被改作中国福利会少年宫。

It's a great place to visit, it not brings some vintage memory back, but also the laid-out of the grand garden, the exquisite design of the building.
