Going toward Glenmont: escalators & elevator are at the very front of the train. Going to Shady Grove: they're at the back.

The escalators/walkway under Rockville Pike is only worth it if it's pouring rain. If it's nice out, the walk across the crosswalk seems to take less time.

Hike from the mall? Its about half a mile but uphill to the metro. Not thaaaat bad of a hike IMO.
